Rebuilding in Grand Isle, Louisiana
NOMADS Helping Rebuild Grand Isle, Louisiana - from Kevin Culver, Disaster Rebuilding Committee Chair
NOMADS have continued to make an impact on the Grand Isle, Louisiana community throughout the winter. Twenty-five NOMADS have taken on the challenge of driving their RVs to the far southern reaches of Louisiana in order to rebuild lives, homes, and communities.
To those who have served this DR Project…
Thank you for your time and energy to support this community through our Disaster Rebuilding efforts. Special thanks to the team leaders who have served at Grand Isle this season.
Jim and Irene Lewis Ken and Michele Madden

Disaster Rebuilding requires a great many tasks. NOMADS have been busy at multiple homes with trim work, painting, caulking, installing flooring, installing wall paneling, plumbing, and electrical. In one home, plywood paneling was installed on the upper part of the walls in four bedrooms. The installation required stainless steel screws and washers to allow the paneling to be removed in case of future flooding. In another home, NOMADS did electrical work. The homeowner was so excited to finally have power to all the rooms of her home. In early March our NOMADS team was thrilled to do a Bible presentation on a home that was started in November of 2022. Michele Madden shared, “The owner and his 2 granddaughters were there and tears welled up in a few of our eyes at this heartwarming event”.
And, of course, our NOMADS had a chance to see a wonderful Mardi Gras parade. (This is Louisiana… after all!)
Thanks again to all who have served this project!
